  • On September 17, 2012, BDE Technology together with Bluetooth SIG, EDOM, Silicon Laboratories and EM Microelectronic hosted a Bluetooth low energy technology and application seminar in Shenzhen Novotel Bauhinia hotel.

    Bluetooth v4.0 introduced low energy technology to the Bluetooth Core Specification, enabling new Bluetooth Smart devices that can operate for months or even years on tiny, coin-cell batteries.
     
    At this seminar, Dr. Tian, the CEO of BDE Technology Co. Ltd, gave a speech of ''Go Green with Bluetooth Low Energy'' that focused on BLE's low power consumption and the advantages that BDE has. Meanwhile, 3 categories, 9 kinds of newly developed applications on mobile medical, smart home and consumer electronics from BDE were showed to participants, in which the mobile medical and smart home solutions especially caught eyes.

    Heidy Chow, Bluetooth SIG APAC senior member relations manager, introduced that Bluetooth SIG is committed to wireless specifications of short-distance connection with mobile devices and low cost so as to promote the application of Bluetooth wireless technology. According to ABI Research, global shipments of Bluetooth devices added up to 7 billion by the end of 2011. It is expected to ship 2 billion more in 2012. This dramatic increase in shipments means that Bluetooth market will enter to the second developing stage along with Bluetooth application scope's expansion.

    EM Microelectronic, one of BDE's partners, is a Switzerland RF chip manufacturer with 35 years chip design experience. According Philippe Kollerzai, marketing manager of EM, EM RF transceiver is low power consumption and low voltage integrated circuits for battery-operated. BDE's BLE Modules managed to achieve very low power consumption. The peak currents when transmitting and receiving data are among the lowest in the industry.

    BDE's another partner, Silicon Labs, is an industry leader in the innovation of high-performance, analog-intensive, mixed-signal ICs. At this seminar, Silicon Lab's microcontroller market manager of Asia Pacific, Alan Pang, presented their low power MCU products, performance parameter of MCU and the prospects for BLE markets.
